My file starts as 3Mb but when I save as .pdf, the file size increases to
13Mb. I have compressed pics, everything looks good on the original. why is
this increasing in size.

I am using Publisher 3007. I have created this newsletter for several months
now and not had problems. This time however, when I sent it to my director
for edit, she had trouble converting it (we use the same program) and said
she had to convert one page at a time. when I received it back, it was huge.
and whatever was done, I don't seem to be able to undo. thanks

Try using the Microsoft save as PDF add-in. It works quite well.

JoAnn & Mary, I downloaded the PDF add-in already. That is what I have been
using all along. I am using Publisher 2007 to create, compress pics, etc, and
convert to PDF. I am not doing anything different than I have been all year.
The only thing different is that when I sent it to be reviewed, she tried to
convert and had trouble. Can you think of anything that would cause this to
increase instead of decrease? Could it have another file or program "hiding"
in the background that it is dragging along with it and being converted?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Beth

Many times when you use the same setup time after time the file will bloat. You
will be better off creating anew or creating a template with your object frames
and text boxes defined; using it each time. Open the Design Checker, see if it
tells you any thing.
