Conversion

Hopefully someone can help me out here. I just got a new computer running
Office 2007. I have a couple of files that were saved under Quattro Pro. I
am looking to open/save them into Excel. I am new to Office & Excel. And
from what I see Office 2007 is a lot different from the Office 2000 I have
at work. TIA

Microsoft has a converter for Excel 2000 that will convert Quattro Pro
files. I don't know if it will work with Excel 2007, however:

If not, you could probably install the converter at Word, do the conversion
there, and then transport the converted files to your home computer.

Another option would be to use the free OpenOffice Calc program to convert
the Quattro Pro files to Excel format.

Herb, I tried 2 diff. conversion programs. Yours and 1 I found online at
pcworld.com
Neither worked. The file in question was from I think WP suite 11. I am
trying to convert
it to Excel 2007. I am not familiar w/OpenOffice calc. I will have to look
it up.

I mistyped earlier... I meant you could install the Microsoft offering at
work (not at Word) on Excel 2000, for which it is intended... if other
pathways fail. Since it's for Quattro Pro 6.0, however, I wouldn't hold out
much hope for it working.

If all you have are a few files to convert, you might be able to download
the free trial of WP Office and see if that will do the conversion for you.
I don't know what limits are placed on the free trial, however, other than
time.

I don't know why, but the convertor did not work in Excel 200 or 2003. I
found an old Win98 pc so I tossed Quatrro Pro 12 on it from an eval copy.
There I was able to use Quattro's save in Excel format. Thanks for the tip
though.
