Convert AOL Email and Contacts

Karl Burrows

I am trying to help someone convert from AOL (finally!). We tried to use
the Intellisync program with AOL that would sync the contacts with Outlook,
but it didn't map fields correctly, so that turned out to be a mess. I
couldn't find anything to convert the email files. Is there any kind of
program or a way to use Access or other to convert contacts? Is there any
solution for moving the email to Outlook?

Thanks!

try exporting to excel file format and then import, mapping the fields
correctly.

I don't think AOL has the option to export anything to any format unless you
know something I can't find in AOL.

Do you already have them in Outlook? That's where I meant to export from...
rename the field names in excel and move data around as needed then import
back to outlook.

Also, when you say you couldn't find anything to convert email files, if you
mean AOL mail to outlook, connect to the mailbox using IMAP.

I think she has saved her emails to a local folder in AOL, so I assume they
are already off the AOL mail server. I just setup Outlook for here and she
has no data there. I'll setup the IMAP in the meantime and see what that
does.

Thanks!

I have no idea if this will work, but try moving the old messages from her
PFC onto the "Saved on AOL" folder. Then you can access that folder using
IMAP.
