Convert data type text into number

In the design view of the table i can convert easily the data type form text
into code. I need however to convert it through code in order to automate the
function.Can you help me with the solution, how can i convert the data type
of the field code to be number instead of text?

Look in help under functions in the C's as in CInt, CDbl etc.
