Convert existing slide text to slide title?

I have an existing presentation with a number of slides that have their titles entered as an ordinary text box rather than in a title box, so the slide title is blank in outline view. I would like to convert the existing text box to a title.

The only way I have found to do this is to select all the text in the text box (command-A), cut it (command-X), then paste it into the blank title in the slide outline. Then I have to format the placement/ position of the title to make it match what it was before.

Is there a better way to do this?

Like you mentioned, you can select the text in the text box that
you want to use for the slide title, You can also drag and drop
that text to the slide outline title space once it's selected.

Also, if you can see the placeholders on the slide, you can even
drag and drop the text from the text box into the title
placeholder. Then you won't have to reposition anything.
You may have to manually delete the carriage return that is
automatically inserted when you do this, but that's just a
matter of hitting the Delete key after dropping the text
into the title placeholder.
