convert gvo 2007 subscription account to a volume license

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to convert my current groove
subscription 2007 account to a volume license. Our company has purchased a
volume license but I had been using a 1 year subscription which expires end
of jan 2009.

If i try to activate using the new volume license ket i get and invalid key
error. I assume this is because I installed originally with a trial version
which I activate on a subscription basis.

I dont have a problem reinstalling from the volume media but I dont want to
lose my account or have it be seen as conflicted in the workspaces because I
have recreated it.

Any help would be appreiciated

Unless someone comes up with a slicker answer, I would back up my workspaces,
save my account, delete my account, uninstall Groove, install a volume
licence copy, restore your account, and, if necessary, create new workspaces
from the archived copies.

Back up workspaces: File > Save workspace as > Archive. Do for each
workspace.

Save account: Options > Preferences > Account (tab) > Save account.

Delete account: Options > Preferences > Account > Delete.

Uninstall and reinstall.

Open the new Groove and check "Restore an existing account" (or whatever it
says; I am doing this from memory) and navigate to where you saved the .GRV
file.

After your new account has been created, you should be able to download a
copy of each workspace by right clicking it and clicking "Restore" or
whatever the term is. It should restore your copy of the workspace from some
other member's computer. If not, either have someone invite you back in to
each workspace or create a new one from your archived copy. File > New >
Workspace from > Archive. But if you do this, you'll have to invite the
other members back in.

Doing all this may also create a name conflict; other people may see two of
you. If this happens, they have to right click the old identity and click
Alias, then give it a different name, like "KFM old". Then they click
Options > Contact manager and remove the 'old' name from the list.

Hope this helps.

Your account and workspace data should be preserved through uninstalling
Groove and reinstalling it from the volume media.

For safety's sake, back up your account and any workspaces without other
members before uninstalling -- that is good practice in any situation -- but
Groove 2007 should recognize and use them.

If your organization also manages Groove identities, you will also need to
convert your account to use the managed identity. The instructions for this
don't seem to be in the application help; I think your administrator is
supposed to send them. The "Workaround" section of the following KB article
outlines the procedure:

"You cannot see your previous Groove workspaces after your Groove domain
administrator sends the configuration code or activating identity to you"

Thanks Frances,

I have setup my account on another PC and reinstalled GVO 2007 on my laptop
with VLK & media then copied the account back to the new install. This works
fine.
