Convert Macintosh version 1.x files

I get "Cannot open normal document created in Microsoft Excel for the
Macintosh version 1.x" when I try to open some old Excel files. I
don't have any earlier versions of Excell. Is there any way to
convert these files?

Hi

Excel version 2 certainly can open your workbook, and perhaps Excel versions
3 and 4 might be able to open it. Once it is open you can save it using a
format that current versions of Excel understand, such as DIF (data
interchange format).

The trick is finding a copy of the software and a computer that will run it.
For that search I would start with local schools and libraries. Often they
have some old computers stashed away someplace. Some may still be in
service. Other place to try is local user groups. You can find them here:
