I need to convert a mp3 file to a usable sound/movie clip so that it will
attach to presentation and actually play along with my slideshow. I need to
know where to go and how to do this?

Version of PPT?

In newer versions:

1. Delete the media file from the presentation.

2. Copy the media file to the folder where the presentation has been saved
to.

3. Re-insert the media file.

4. When copying, moving, etc., send the entire contents of the folder.

MP3 will play in PPT, they just won't be actually embedded in the
presentation. You'd need WAV files if you need to have the sounds embedded.

See http://www.echosvoice.com/gotchas.htm#SoundAdvice

and

Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or
email a presentation

and

Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)
