convert slide to master slide

I want to ensure that the writers will use 6 slides in their courses. Can I
save the 6 existing slides as a template? I'm using PPT 2003. Can I convert
the existing slides to master slides? I came into the project late so I am
doing a lot of formatting to get a consistent look.

Do you really need 6 master slides? Maybe you could explain more what youre
trying to achieve.

Long-winded explanation: I might not need 6 master slides. What I have now is
6 slides that need to always be included by each writer with their
appropriate content. There are at least 60 ppt presentations that will be
needing these slides, same font, same text box position, etc... For existing
presentations, it just seems like there ought to be a way for me to 'manage'
the correct appearance without having to manually correct placement of text
boxes etc. I think what I really need is a template but have to admit that I
am confused.
For new presentations, I have thought about just sending them a ppt file,
having them save it with a new name and making modifications from there.

Right I think you just need one master

Go to view>master>slide master view and on the master slide click and set
font properties. If you want format the background.

Now back to normal view. Youve probably got a title blank. Probably leave
that and insert a new slide. Select an appropriate LAYOUT. You can leave the
text boxes blank (click to add etc) and if you need to - add things to the
slide elsewhere. Repeat for other slides and save. Try opening that and see
if it is what you want

Hope thats clear

John

John, Thanks for the help. I can see how this works for future ppts. Just
having a heck of a time deciding on how to retro-fit existing ppts. It might
just be a lot of manual work.
