Convert Text to Date

Having trouble converting a text to date. My text is in the following
formats:

12192004 - 8 characters
1252004 - 7 characters

Using Data-Text to Columns only converts the text with 8 characters using
MDY and cannot recognize the 7 character text

There are several potential issues you have to consider.
For example is 1252004 January 25, or is it December 5?

Chips website will help think through different scenarios
and point you the right direction

That's correct. There's no way to convert the 7-character entry you show. It
could be Jan 25 or Dec 5. How would Excel be able to decide which?
