Convert Visio's & bitmaps to jpegs

One of the challenges of building a complex word document that consists of
Viso diagrams and screen shots is that the file gets huge. The easiest
answer to this problem is either save as jpeg within Visio and/or paintbrush
and/or Microsoft Office Picture Manager. I've seen documents recuce in size
by 2 orders of magnitude by using this on the Office Picturebar compress
feature.

Why can't Word do this as one step (for example have the right click Viso
object manu have a convert to Jpeg option)? This would be a significant time
saver...
