Converter version conflict

W98SE, Word97SR1, FrontPage 3.0.2.1330.

Unable to save as html in Word: <<The selected text converter is an old
version which does not work with the current version of Word. Reinstall the
converter and try again.>>

Can anyone please help with the steps involved in locating and reinstalling
the correct converter that is compatible with all 3 above programs.

So far have tried without success:

- Office Converter Pack - turns out it requires newer OS than W98SE
- Uninstalled FP98 and Word97SR1 and then reinstalled FP98 first
- Tried custom FP98 install without converters

Logical solution would be to install FP98 or Word97 locally with their own
set of locally installed shared files - unfortunately don't know how and
would welcome step-by-step advice on this please?

Many thanks,
Denis

This is going back 7 or 8 years!

Saving as HTML from Word97 has nothing to do with the operating system or
version of FrontPage installed. It simply depends on how Word97 is
installed - all the converters are on the Word97 CD. When installing Word,
install everything to run from the Hard Disc. (There are a few things that
can be missed, like Help for Wordpro users.)

If memory is accurate, I installed Word97 on Windows95. The installation
was to run everything from hard disc. Then FrontPage98 was installed, again
running everything from the hard disc. I used the default (what was
suggested) installation folders for both programs.

You should probably post this question in a Word newsgroup.

But really, these are the kinds of issues you run into
with 7-year-old software.

Ronx,

Very many thanks. Fortunuately, discovered I was barking up the wrong tree.
In fact needed an older rather than newer version of html32.cnv. Just in
case there are other collectors of antique Microsoft seeking this
information - check version of:

c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TEXTCONV\html32.cnv

Version: 98100400
Following installation you may then be prompted to check for latest Web
Authoring tools.

Thanks again for this and hoping this also will be of help to someone.
