Converting Access 2003 to 2007 error

I have a 2003 DB to convert to 2007, however I keep getting
the following error.

" You attempted to open a database that is already opened exclusively by
user 'Admin' on machine 'ComputerName'. Try again when the database is
available"

I’ve tried forcing the DB to open in shared mode but still
get the same error. The database is on the local machine and is opened only
by me. The only reason I’ve converting is that access tells me I cannot link
a 2003 DB to 2007 spreadsheet.

Could you give me any assistance on this one?

I am having exact same problem but converting from Access 2000. I have a
series of interlinked databases and excel files to convert. I converted
three other Access 2000 databases today with no problem. One in particular
keeps giving me the same error. It is telling me that I have it open
exclusively on my machine. This is making me crazy. I have rebooted and no
other users are in the database and I had no problem with the others.
