Converting from trial

CJ

Hi,
Have a sixty day office trial on my pc. Tried to convert it last month and
chose to 'buy key online' went all the way tthrough the payment process
before it told me that my zip code didn't match my credit card details.
Double checked, tried it again, and again - then contacted the bank who
confirmed all the details were okay - but said leave it a few days before
trying again.

So, finally got around to trying it again and as soon as I choose 'buy key
online' it directs me to a page which just says "We're sorry, but an error
occurred when trying to retrieve information about your product"

My trial is due to expire next week and I need this for work - I've compared
prices locally and it's gonna cost a lot more to buy it boxed - so any ideas
how I can get the online process to actually work?

Tried but they're not significantly than the other retail options - when I
tried the conversion last month the price quoted was significantly cheaper so
I'd really like to get this to work. What's the point of including the link
in the activation process if it doesn't work?

Generally it does work. Why it's not working for you is beyond me. Where
were you trying to get this conversion from?

The trial was pre-loaded on my HP media center pc which I bought from Staples
a couple of months ago, and I've been trying for nearly a month on and off to
get it converted.

I've priced the software there and it's nearly a hundred and fifty dollars
more than the price quoted if you buy it through the activation link, on
Amazon and other sites it's about a hundred dollars more.

I work online and had to buy the pc in a panic when my laptop went kaput,
and I know I was ripped off on the price, so I'd rather not pay over the odds
for the software as well.

I've tried Tom's link but there are lots of sites listed and nothing that
seems particularly relevant for this issue.

(I don't think activation is the problem.)

It sounds like it's time to call MS and talk to a CSR. They can probably
take your credit card info, and possibly even give you the online download
rate. Though I'd sooner die than not have the Hard copy CDs.

If calling in doesn't get you anywhere, eBay or Amazon may be your best bet.
I would suggest getting an old Office CD, then getting the upgrade version
to save some cash.

Good luck!
