Converting Office Web Components 2000 ->2003

I have created many of "data access pages" within Access
2000. Within Access 2003 the pages does not work as the
Office Web Components versions does seems not to match.
How can I run my old "data access pages" within an Office
2003 environment. Is ist possible to convert the data
access pages? Converting the database-mdb into Access
2003 did not solve the problem as the html files still
contain the old web components.
Is it possible to access "data access pages" both with an
Office 2000 or 2003 environment?

any help?

OWC9 (from Office 2000) will run fine alongside Office 2003, but the default
installation of Office 2003 automatically uninstalls OWC9. Therefore, you
simply need to restore OWC9. See KB article 831590.

Dear Ronny,

thanks for your support. KB 831590 describes the
reinstallation of the web-components in case they have
been removed by an office update. My situation is
different: I have created the websites with the OWC from
Office 2000. Now many users outside the wourld just have a
new environment with Office 2003/XP. I tried just to
reinstall the webcomponents to their computer by using
the "Owcwp.exe" (version 2000) that are available from the
microsoft download center. After doing the installation
the web-components within the website still do not work. A
reinstallation with old office CD-ROM is not an option as
they do not have an old office version/licence. So I was
asking myself if there is the possibility to
update/upgrade/convert the web-components within the
website automatically.

If they do not have an Office 2000 license, then they are not entitled to
run Office 2000 web components in the first place. The ability to use OWC in
Reduced Functionality Mode without an Office license was first introduced
with Office XP (OWC10).

To upgrade your pages, you can make a list of the GUIDs you have used, find
the corresponding OWC10 or OWC11 version of those GUIDs, then use a global
replace utility to replace them. There are many such utilities available as
freeware. My current favorite is HandyFile Find and Replace.

I thought Office is somehow down-compatible, so the user
with an Office 2003 license is allowed to view and use
webpages with web 2000 OWC.
I will create the pages with OWC10 and 0WC11 and see what
IDs have changed.
Is there a script available that automatically checks what
OWC version is needed for the user. I want to avoid that
the user needs to select the correct intranet page by
himself. Would be nice to forward him automatically to the
correct OWC webpage.
Any idea.
Thanks for your help.
