converting string to date

Could anyone help me with the following:
I have a field in my access database in a string format and i need to
convert it into a date in order to comper it to other dates.
the format of the data is 01-jun-03.
This needs to be done in an inline SQL function that will be used in a
SQL statement.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

or
CDate([YourField])
