Converting to PDF Newer Version Message

L

Lauren

I just started using Publisher to create our Newsletter and convert it to a
PDF for my users. They are complaining that it pops up the message "This
document was created with a newer version of Adobe Acorbat". They can
continue to view the document with the version they have, but we don't want
them to receive this message since it's causing confusion and we don't have a
newer version to offer them.

Is there a way to prevent this message?

Thanks!

Chuck,

I am not sure I know what you mean when you say "When you create PDFs with
Adobe Acrobat 6 Pro". I create my PDF from Publisher and it uses Adobe
Acrobat 7.0 Professional. In the PDF print settings in Publisher the
compatability is set to 5.0 or later. Then I open the PDF in Acrobat and
checked the File/Reduce File Size setting and it was already defaulted to 5.0
or later compatability also. So I'm not sure what I can change.

I found this forum that discusses the issue, but I'm not sure what I can do
differently except try adding the security settings after reopening the file
and saving it as a different name. Sounds like a weird solution to me.

Thanks for your help.

It could also be that some of your readers (like some of mine) are using
prehistoric computers and are still running Acrobat Reader 4.0. If that's
the case, all you can do is try to change it so that your file is readable
with an even older version of Reader. That will be easier than getting the
audience to see if they will download a later version of Reader.

When folks open your PDF they are opening the Acrobat Reader. The Reader is
simply alerting the user that a newer version of the Reader is available. It has
nothing to do with your version of Acrobat. If your recipients update the
Reader, the message would disappear.
