Converting Word docs to Useable Publisher docs in Publisher 2003

We presently have a customer who brings in a lot of their documents in Word.
They use a lot of photos and boxes wth indication arrows on the photos. When
I convert these Word documents to Publisher, using the convertion feature in
Publisher 2003, none of the formatting is correct and almost all of the
photos are the wrong size and the text boxes with indication arrows
disappear. Can anyone help? Usually these documents are in two-color and I
don't know how to get color seps in Word. Any help would be appreciated.

it would be easiest to handle these things in Word.

But to do so you will need the right tools.

The tools I use are PDF, including full version of Acrobat 6 and PitStop
Pro. With PitStop it's normally a matter of only a few minutes to
convert all the "blue" to cyan, the "red" to magenta, etc. You could
even use Pantone spots if you wanted to (but this takes a couple extra
tricks). Then From Acro 6 you can "priont" sepsarations any you are off
and running. Such work is, of course, billed as additional to the film/
whatever. Oh...don't forget to change black to 100K otherwise you'll get
it on each plate.

Another thing to try is to copy and paste the Word page into Corel Draw.
While it takes a lot more time to touch things up, I recall being able
to get separations that way...cmyk, at least. For spots you'd need to
edit the objects.

Thanks Mac! I will see what I can do about getting some of these other
programs... My version of Word (20040 will do cmyk seps. but, that is not
what I need. The items we do are always two-color. Usually blk and Red.
