Copied File Pastes Text, Not File

Hi ~

Typically when you copy or insert a file into a word
document, the file icon appears, however, lately instead
of the file icon, the program is opening the pasted file
and copying the text and placing the text into the body of
the original document. Does anyone have a solution?

Are you sure you are not talking about "Object Linking Embedding"? Insert >
Object > "Create from File" (tab), browse for file you want to insert, check
"Display as icon" > OK.
