copy a symbol problems

C

Cindy

Hi on our webpage we first insert an arrow symbol ? then put the date,
hyperlinks, then a description. When we copy paste this symbol, it
adds 1,000's of lines regarding <span id="text1564"> items, and </span>
</span>
</span></span>
</span>
This page does not have any tables or cells formated. This results in a
slow loading page and very hard to
edit when making changes. A page that might only have a couple of hundred
of lines now has over 30,000 lines.

Any ideas....Thanks...Cindy

How did you insert this arrow symbol??
As an image or by using insert symbol from the FrontPage toolbar??

The only thing I can think to try is click Tools, select Page Options and
make sure that the default spelling language is set to English (United
States) and to also make sure you're inserting the symbol from a standard
font.

That all appears to be good. Can FP start acting weird because the site is
getting very large? Or does it really
just focus on the last few pages/directories one has been working?

It only focuses on the page you're working on at the time.
Try this: with your web open but no pages open, click Tools > Web Settings,
click the Advanced tab and then under Temporary files click the Delete files
button.
Then close FrontPage and do a windows search for files named *.web and
delete all found.
Then find *.tmp and delete all found.
Then empty your browsers Temporary Internet and History files.
Reopen FrontPage and see what happens.

She's inserting a symbol from a character map using Insert > Symbol on the
toolbar.
It's normal for it to insert 1 span tag but not bunches of them.
