Copy and Paste Formatting

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Is there a keystroke to copy and paste formatting in Word for Mac 2008? I've found it arduous working with the toolbar button. Thanks, Abe

Hey Rob, thanks, but I was asking about copying and pasting formatting (i.e., style), NOT text. In the Windows version of Word, this is done by pressing Control-Shift-C and Control-Shift-V, but there doesn't seem to be a similar feature for Word for Mac.

IIRC (not at a Mac to check) teh keystroke to copy formatting is
Shift+Command+C, pasting it is Shift+Command+V. If that isn't correct check
out 'keyboard shortcuts used in Word' from the Help.

Those 3 keystrokes are the keyboard shortcuts to cut/copy/paste content, not
formatting.

I'm sure the correct strokes are somewhere in that all-inclusive list the
link points to, but there's a lot of stuff there to sift through that
doesn't pertain to any of the Office apps.

Command + Shift + C is CopyToScrapbook.

The commands you want are CopyFormat and PasteFormat. They are not assigned
keystrokes by default.

Use Tools>Customise Keyboard to assign the keystroke of your choice to them.

Cheers

Cool tip, Bob. FYI, it works in Word X, but in Word 2004, those
functions are not assigned to a keyboard shortcut by default. I'll
be curious to hear what the story is with Word 2008.

Yeah, I was stuck in PC Hell at the time & couldn't verify... That's why I
referred the OP to the Help :) I've since confirmed that the CopyFormat &
PasteFormat do not have keystrokes assigned by default, but neither does
Word respect the OS X keystrokes for those operations.

However, custom keystrokes can be assigned. I rediscovered that I'd actually
assigned Control+Option+C/V on one of my Macs. Was misremembering because I
never use them anymore :)

I was referring to using icon on the menu bar. Single click to paint on
Paragraph. double click for multiple Paragraphs not necessarily in
sequence.

Exactly ‹ Format Painter is the toolbar button that executes the
CopyFormat/PasteFormat commands. The OP indicated that he wanted a keyboard
alternative to using the button.
