Copy Current Record then Show It

I need to copy the current record and child records displayed in a form and
then move to that record. I can do this when the form is not filtered. But
if the form is filtered, I cannot move to the new record. Overall, I'm not
impressed with my approach.

Can anyone offer some design suggestions for viewing copying one record from
a filtered list, then displaying the new record?
