Copy in Views? What's the Purpose?

I cannot understand the purpose of, Copy, an option in Views?

For example, I did the following:

After clicking on Define Views, from the Views menu, it
shows one of the Views as, Hide Read Messages.
Definition: "Where the message has been read Hide the
message." Ok, that makes sense.

Now, I click on the, Copy button, and the new View title
is, Copy of Hide Read Messages. Again the definition is
Where the message has been read Hide the message.

But then I realize that only, Copy, offers underlined
values that you can edit.

So, I change - has been read - to NOT been read.
I also change - Hide to Show.

But guess what? There's already a default View just like that.

So what then is the purpose of this Copy feature anyway?

So, you can create several views for the same mail area? Boy, I sure wish
someone would give me a nice clear and detailed answer as I am not an expert
in this area.

P.S. Copy, may not be the best choice of words to describe a similiar yet
altered version of one View to another. Anyway, I really would appreciate a
rudimentary answer as I have no formal education in computing and also suffer
from several handicaps. Thanks alot in advance!

If you have no need to create custom views, then you have no need to use the
copy function. But here is how it works.
Let's say you want to view only the read messages, and you want to view them
as a list (instead of cards), sorted by category. You create that view.
Then you want the same view, but sorted by date received instead. Why
re-create the wheel? Just copy your first one, then edit the sort (or
filter, or whatever setting you want) and voila, you have a new view based
on an old one that you worked hard to create.

I'm still throughly confused. Maybe someone could address my original
question and not a hyerthedical? Please don't talk over my head, please. I
use Outlook Express 6 and just wish I could learn more. I've learned
everything on my own but this, Copy, option seems useless, unless someone,
who is kind, could take the time to explain it in a simple manner. Again, I
thank you, special person, for your time and patience.

Oh...I think I now understand what, Ipew, wrote? He was telling me that if
you created a View for, say a Personal Folder (?) in list format sorted by
conversation, that you could Copy that View - and then modify it, slightly,
to sort by Date Received instead? Meaning, that you can have more than one
View per Folder? That's what was confusing me as I didn't realize you could
have more than one View per Folder.

I hope I've finally got this, Copy, thing finally understood as I do use
Outlook Express 6 and have learned many things about it but simply couldn't
get a grasp on the funtionality of the Copy funtion. Also, OE6 HELP does Not
even address this issue. I think if it contained the infomation that more
than one View can be made and used for a single Folder, I may have understood
this, and not have had to come to the community for help.

Thank you all very much.
