Copy of Views? What's the Purpose?

I cannot understand the purpose of, Copy, option in Views?

For example, I did the following:

After clicking on Define Views from the Views menu it
shows one of the views as Hide Read Messages.
Definition: "Where the message has been read Hide the
message." Ok, that makes sense.

Now, I click on the Copy button and the new view title
is, Copy of Hide Read Messages. Again the definition is
Where the message has been read Hide the message.

But then I realize that only, Copy, offers underlined
values that you can edit.

So, I change - has been read to NOT been read.
I also change - Hide to Show.
But guess what? There's already a default View just like that. So what then
is the purpose of this Copy feature?
