Copying a server side template to the client side spreadsheet

Is there a way to transfer a server template to a client side
spreadsheet?

I am trying to do this but what happens is when I call a function from
the client spreadsheet that is contained in the server side
spreadsheet it load sthe entire server side template into the clients
spreadsheet. The user than tries to close the client spreadsheet and
then and is asked of they want to save the serverside template to
their local machine.
