Copying cells to adjacent cells using the fill handle

Today, my excel stopped automatically formatting SUMS when I use the fill handle to drag one cell to the next. Any ideas on how this happened? It used to work perfectly.

You are probably in manual calculation mode. Check the preferences on the
calculation tab.

I don't remember changing to Manual mode; I wonder how that happened? Anyway, thanks again.
