copying contact list to distribution list

I have imported a 520 count email list from my Theatre program and I am not
trying to import them into my explorer. I can view them in the contact
folder, however, I would like to put them into a distribution list and make
them small groups. I also need to break them into different needs,
advertisers, marketing, press release, etc... Can you help me?
