Copying from webpage to Word document via clipboard

Usually I have no problem copying a portion of a web page to a new
document. I just highlight the desired part, press Ctrl-C, and in a new
Word document I press Ctrl-V to complete the paste. Every once in a
while, this does not work, and Task Manager shows Word as Not Responding.

Here's one problem link.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/ar...for_a_cleaning_the.html?singlepage=true&cat=6

First I placed the cursor to the left of the word Are in the headline.
Next, while pressing Shift, I clicked after the word "that..." at the
end of the article. This highlighted all the text I wanted, and I went
through the Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V sequence. No luck. Word hung up.

After a bit of experimenting, I found that I could successfully
cut/paste the headline, the first two sentences of the first paragraph,
and everything from the second paragraph to the end of the article. The
only sentence causing the problem was the third one of the first
paragraph. ("All it takes are a few simple items...")

What is it about this sentence that Word doesn't like?

Thanks,

Ray

Hmmm - interesting. Using Firefox 3.0.7 and Word 2002, it worked fine
for me.

However, the interesting bit is that to the left of the word 'June'
below the headline there's a symbol comprising a diagonal 'scroll' shape
in a yellow rectangle, which I don't recall seeing before. The last
sentence of the first paragraph gets as far as "All it takes are a few
simple items and", then on the next line, justified left, there are two
contiguous symbols as just described. Then the next line starts "and
your walls will look better in no time!"

Clearly, then, it's those symbols which are causing your problem.
Hopefully someone will be along shortly to explain it to both of us!

I don't see any symbol to the left of 'June.'

Even though just today I'm using Fx3.0.7, we are seeing the line breaks
differently. My first paragraph shows as three lines, with 'much
easier..." at the beginning of the third line.
Clearly, then, it's those symbols which are causing your problem.

Doing some more experiments, I noticed that if I highlight the first
paragraph from the first word up to the "and" in the third sentence, and
then tried extending the highlighted portion by using Shift-right arrow,
I had to tap the arrow about six times before the 'y' of 'your' would
highlight. I then went to View/Page Source and noticed that there is a
bunch of coding between 'and' and 'your.' That the problem.
