Correct way to update a fixed work task

Hi,

i am looking for a correct way to enter actuals for a proj with all fixed
work type tasks. e.g. i have a task A which i baselined with following value
1. fist entered task name and work (effort estimated) as A and 16 hrs.
2. then entered the resource name and % availability as 25% to calculate the
duration as 8 days. Then baselined the values.

Can some one suggest what should i enter and in what order while updating
the actuals upon 100% completion of task. Following value i want to update -

name - Task A, Work - 20 hrs, duration - 10 days. I want the proj to adjust
the resource %ge.

I am basically confused with the order i should enter the value. With a
couple of hit & try, i manage to achieve the result but i want some one to
giude me the rules so that i can remember i do it in one go.

To begin with 20 hours of work over 10 days is the same 25% resource usage
you began with so the pecentage wouldn't change with that update. However, if
you wanted to have MS Project recaluculate the percentage, with the task type
set to "Fixed Work" you would enter the actual "Work" first an then the
change in duration, this should trigger a recalculation of the percentage.

100 in between. Thanks again for your help.
