Corrupt 2003 installation

I have a problem with office and or more likely the VB installation with a
number of quirky run-time errors.
I tried to repair my office installation of 2003 and find hundreds of error
messages in the repair log similar to this "DEBUG: Error 2746: Transform
33TTo33U invalid for package C:\WINDOWS\Installer\81caa.msi. Expected product
{91130407-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}, found product
{91110409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0150048383C9}.

I searched the knowledge base and got nothing.
Anybody got any ideas?
