Corrupt Data

I desparately need help in recovering data from MS 2002.
My problem is as such. I created a project Plan in MS
Prject 2002. I saved it and everything seemed to have went
well. Or so I thought. Next day I tried to open it MS
Project gave me an error message stating that it did not
recognize the file format. I tried renaming, scanning,
defragmenting, tried to import it as text and to no avail.
I am wondering if anyone has had this problem and was able
to resolve it. Importing as a text file seem to be the way
but I just don't seem to be able to get it to work. Any
assistance provided in retrieving this data will be
greatly appreciated.
