Reboot your computer and DO NOT start any Office Applications. Now rename
normal.dot as normal.bad.
It sounds like your computer needs cleanout of abandoned temp files too: see
the following FAQ:
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm
:I use MS 2003 Professional on my PC and work laptop. Well, it won't let me
: rename my Normal.dot. I get a message that says Word is open, when it
isn't.
: It used to be that if you simply deleted the corrupt Normal.dot and then
: restarted, it would be recreated by Word. Ever since October 2004, my
: Normal.dot has gone wacky and changes my view of the top margin of every
Word
: document page. For example, I largely work in Print view. When I open a
new
: document (or an existing one), my cursor shows as being right at the top.
: However, when I print a document out, it conforms to the settings in page
: setup. Now my laptop is doing the same thing at home, i.e., the print view
: pages are distorted; you can't tell where one page ends and the other
begins,
: so there looks to be no top or bottom margins. How frustrating! Can anyone
: help? Thanks in advance! -- Yvette
