Corrupt normal.dot

A user has had a problem that when she started Word, it would open two
instances with a normal blank document and the other was a VB form called
normal. I have renamed the normal.dot in the c:\ templates to .old,
re-opened Word and the VB form no longer opens, but there are still two
instances of the blank document opening, called "document 1" and funnily
enough "document 2". I believe that there might be a conflict as to where
it is looking for the .dot template, but it is set up correctly within the
file locations tab. There are no settings within the workgroup file
location, so this is not causing a conflict. This problem has only just
started this afternoon, she has not opened any documents that were
differenrent or opened any dodgy emails.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Jimbo:

Also try renaming and saving both Normal.dot files somewhere, then deleting
the original Normal.dot file from the specified path. In fact, why not search
her whole system and delete all the Normal.dot files.

Then restart Word, make some trivial changes in a dummy document and save
it. This should cause Word to create a new, almost completely empty
Normal.dot.

If the problem persists with the new Normal.dot, you've ruled that out as
the cause, at least.
