corrupted databases

I had a message that my documents and setting had
corruption and I should run chkdsk. Doing so resulted in
a host of problems. My printer driver was gone, Iomega
hto burn gone, no icons on the bottom bar, lots of other
problems, but most importantly, 3 databses now are
corrupted. When I open them there is a user name, and an
initial, that I never put there or required beofre. When
I try to open a table, I get an Visual Basic error, and
must use C-A-D to get out again.
This is the first time I have noticed chkdsk since 3.1,
and I rember how back then it "fixed" problems by
deleting stuff. My most important database was saved, by
not allowing deleting, but renaming and then I found I
could open it. This chkdsk gave no such option and
totally screwed up stuff all over.

Make copies of all suspected files. Run the repair and compact utility.
(Tools ... Database Utilities ... Compact and Repair)

If that doesn't work, try using JetComp:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en- us;273956

Lastly, visit Tony Toews corruption page:

So far, I could not open 2 of the DB to copy files. I
tried to download the jetcomp and got a message that the
download couldn't proceed.
