COST Resource & Actual Cost Calculation

New to Project 2007......I have "turned off" Project calcualting actual cost.
I am entering actual cost manually. When I do a status update of a task
with a COST resource, Project is moving the value of the completed task to
the "Actual Cost" field. WHY?????? Everything I have found so far says it
should not calcualte any actual cost.

Hi,

You can still update actual cost, biut everything about a completed task is
"Actual", i.e. past history.
