Hi Olaf,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You can filter on any field (column). Give us an example of what you're
trying to achieve and we may be able to help you better.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi Mike,

Example:
A new created column contains values like "Yes" or "No". For every task you
have to pu in one of these values. The overall cost for this project are
10k$. If you now filter on "Yes" I would like to see only the summery of
these "Yes"-tasks.

I hope it is clearer.

Hi Olaf,

Project/Filtered For: All Tasks/More Filters... Scroll down and select the
Summary Task filter and Copy. Give it a new name and in the dialog add a
new row for AND, column name = Yes.

Fuller details of creating filters is in my series on Microsoft Project in
the TechTrax ezine, particularly #22 on using filters, at this site:
http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc or this:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

Hello Olaf,

I don't believe a filter is going to get you what you need, but a custom
group should. If I understand your question correctly, you want to be
able to total the costs for only certain selected tasks.

Insert the Flag fields as you suggest and set the flags as needed.
Create a custom group through Project > Group By > More Groups. Click
the New button to create a new group. The first Group By row in the new
custom group should be your flag field.

When you apply the group if you have included the Cost field in the
table you should see the sum of each Flag option - "yes" and "no".

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
