Could not perform operation because default mail client not properly installed

P

Peter

That is the message I get since installing Microsoft
Outlook 2003 on my Windows XP system when I try to click
on a link from a website or email that I expect to open up
an outgoing mail message. Like a "mailto:blah blah". Then
when I click ok, 63 windows open up on my computer,
cascading. They are all on one group though and I can
close the group down with one close command.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Peter

What is set as your default mail client? Check control panel->internet
options->programs tab.

Also, have you performed a recent AV scan with an up to day AV scanner? Try
Housecall from Trend Micro - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Peter asked:
