could someone help me with my problem?

After re-installing the system and ms office, those word and excel files with
protected passwords set by me before are no longer to be accessed, I can't
even enter the password to open it, what is the problem here?
I set those folders in advanced properties as "encrypt contents to secure
data" and the folders' name turn in green and the "Attributes" states as
"AE", also I set the passwords for word and excel files, but now I can't
access them, could anyone tell me how to solve the problem, those files are
very important to me!!!

It sounds like you encrypted your files using the "encrypting
file system" feature in Windows XP, instead of the "password to
open" feature in Word and Excel, so your question is off-topic in
this newsgroup. And it sounds like you did not make a backup of
your encryption certificate before reinstalling Windows XP, so
your encrypted files are probably unrecoverable. See
