Could Visio be used in conjuntion with a laser?

Can Visio be used in conjuntion with a laser? We are a police department and
are purchasing a laser for reporting that has software to incorpate a laser
for measurements to make a drawing to scale.

If the information from the laser can be broght into a text file, the
information can be used within Visio. Of course, some programming may be
required.
