Count in query - create alias

I have a field in my query named DEPARTMENT

The query is based on a table that details sales data for shoes sold by dept
(SportingGoods, Woments) I want to add 2 alias fields called Womens and
Sporting Goods that will count the number of shoes sold where the dept =
sporting goods and where the department = Womens, respectively.

What is the proper syntax ?
