count the amount of times a two letters appears in text string

please help!!

I have a column of different sequenced letters.eg
AD
AFD
AC
AFDE
ADEF

I want to count the amount of times that both "A" and "D" occur in the data
set (4).

=SUMPRODUCT(--(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("A*D",A1:A5))))

Using COUNTIF() in Col A

=COUNTIF(A:A,"*A*D*")

Do you want to count if those 2 letters appear *in any order* ? For
example:

DFA

Should that be counted?
