Count the number of times a charecter repeats in a Cell

Hi,

I need to count the number of times a charecter repeates in a cell.

For ex:
the number of times "a" repeats in a cell containing the value "banana".
Result should be 3

Any ideas?

One way is like this:
=LEN(C8)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(C8,"a",""))
