Count words TYPED - not Words in document

Hi

I have spent hours on this and need some help!!

I need to count the number of words typed, NOT the final number of words in
the document.

I guess I need my macro running, counting all the time. And then how do I
get the count to a VB program?

Any suggestins please.

Can't be done from VBA -- Word doesn't fire events for keystrokes. You could
install a keystroke logger on the computer.

BTW, what's your definition of "word" in this context?

As I see it there's only one way to do this

Before typing, run a macro that stores a document variable containing the
word count.

After typing, run another macro that compares the new count with the old
count.

A background routine that counts all the time is, in my view not doable
unless you assign a macro to the space button that, before inserting a
space, counts the number of words each time a space is hit

Hi

A word being any sequence of characters followed by a space, comma, dot etc.

I would probably be happy just counting keys hit. Any suggestions about
where/how I can get/write a keystroke logger which will log for a specified
application?

Wont do the trick.
I need to know how many keys were pressed - this might be highlighting and
deleting a paragraph which would result in the final word count being lower
than the initial word count!

I've never seen one that was application specific. Do a Google: security
companies sell them, for both legitimate and nefarious purposes.

I just downloaded the filet referenced below.

Ferget about it!

The .zip has only an MSWord doc with a password protected project.
Seems fishy to me.
