counter doesn't work

Shaggy

Hi. I have already successfully published a web page with
tripod.com, and my counter worked. Recently it ceased
working. I have tried all their suggestions, but each
time, after I publish it, it comes up on my page with a
little red x and the words hit counter in the spot where
it should be. I have front page extensions installed on
my page. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Shaggy,

You need to ensure that FPSE is installed on the Web Server. If possible
let me know the website and the page that is not showing the Hit Counter
and I could check it out.

Vijay

Thanks Vijay. It is tripod.com. I definitely know I have the front page
servers installed, I logged in the home site, tripod.com and made sure they
were enabled. I disabled them, then enabled them and republished it to try
something new. The actual sites address is
http://members.tripod.com/swopey78
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for looking Steve. I actually took down my site
for now because of frustration. If you want to see the
same kind of error, check out my wife's site. Same
problem on her home page. Web server has Front Page
Extensions installed. I get the same error with hers, or
mine when I clicked the preview button, or preview in
browser in Front Page 2000. I get the red X with the
words hit counter next to it. Her site is
http://members.tripod.com/swope1221
Thanks again.

According to these tests, the FP extensions are not installed or not
enabled:
How to check and see if FP Server Extensions are installed on the host
server:
http://www.dnswiz.com/fptype.htm

or, type in your website root URL with /_vti_inf.html ex:
http://www.mysitename.com/_vti_inf.html and you will see whether your site
has them installed and enabled.
