Counter View (without increasing)

Is there a way to view the counter number without opening the page and
causing the counter to increase? Using Windows 2000, FP 2000.
Thanks.

Yes, open the site directly in FP, then open the _private folder and then open pagename.htm.cnt file
in notepad (text editor).

Thanks so much. I had tried opening the .cnt file, but it said it couldn't.
I right-clicked file and told it to open with Notepad. Worked perfectly.

After you gave me the solution for viewing my counter (and it worked), I
moved to a new hosting company. Of course my counters reset and that wasn't
a problem. However, now when I open the .cnt files from within FP with
notepad, they show all 0's. I viewed the file on the server with FTP and
they show the same number as the counter does on the site.

Can you tell me what I might have done or should do to view correctly within
FP?

Thanks.

The local files will show as all zero's. this is normal. They will also be marked as "Do not
publish" ( or they should be anyway ) This is so you don't overwrite / reset the ones on the
server when you publish updates.

Thanks Steve. I guess the reason they weren't all 0's before is that when I
took over the web site for our club, I imported everything.
