counters on included content page

I have a page and at the bottom I use "include page" to place my copyright
info. I want to add a counter to that page so that it too is at the bottom
of each page. The counter service states that you can place the same counter
code on each page and it should not effect it, however I am wondering if
placing it on one page and then using that page via "include page" would
effect its counting abilities????????

There's no reason it shouldn't work because the "include" is actually written to
each page at design time / when the page is saved and or published.

Yep, sure does effect its counting abilities. Changes the number of hits on
each page it's on. Since you were so busy, I just tried it. ;-)

By doing so, you would then have a counter file generated in the _private folder for each page using
the Include Page.

What page are you using to test it? The one in my signature? If so, that is
not the page I am referring to.

Tom, I think he's using an external counter service, not the FrontPage counter.
The external one should work OK.

The FP one can be made to work with some tweaking, but every hit will increment
on every page.

No, I tested it on my FP and server.

Would have been nice if you had told us that to begin with.

| Yes, it is an external service.

I did: "The counter service states that you can place the same counter
code on each page and it should not effect it" - from my original post.

The phrase "counter service" I believe implies "outside service". Otherwise
I would have said "hit counter" referring to the FP component.

No big deal.
