Countif not Sumif

Hello,

I wnt to have a kind of statistic in my church membershipdatabase here is
the ooutlay more or less:

Name Gender status baptized Quit.....etc.


I want to make the statistic per month and per year by using a Countif at
the botttom/at the report footer.

How can we use countif ( not counting the blank field) like we have in excel?

How can we use the the monthly column for 12 months dynamically and then
yearly dynamically using the parameter query?

I appreciate any idea on this.
