=countif(range,"<"&b1)-countif(range">"&A1)
=countif(range,"<"&b1)-countif(range">"&A1)

=COUNTIF(Range,">"&A1)-COUNTIF(Range,">="&B1)
If your version of Excel uses the semi-colon as a separator, replace
commas with semi-colons.

In my PC is only working this formula:
=sum((countif(table;"<"&B1))-(countif(table;"<"&A1))
but i don't know why in my friends PC isn't working, but i'll find out!!!
