countif with two columns?

I have two columns... G and H.

Employee names are in G and dates are in H, I want to count how man
times one name came up on a certain date...

for example:

COUNTIF(G1:G4000, "Nicole")

combined with:

COUNTIF(H1:H4000, "08/26/2004"

COUNTIF can't do this but use SUMPRODUCT instead:
=SUMPRODUCT(--(G1:G4000="Nicole"),--(H1:H4000=DATE(2004,8,26)))
