counting cell entries

Hi

I have a range of cells with entries like 3A or 3A5B or 3A6B or 3A5B6C
I would like to sum the number of A's and B's and C's in trhee different cells

Cell 1 will have the value 12 for A's
Cell 2 will have the value 16 for B's
Cell 3 will have the value 6 for C's
